Which Grok Bot Job Should You Start With?
The official use-cases page lists 56 ready-made jobs in 9 categories.[1] That's a lot to choose from. This guide helps you pick one easy, low-risk job to start with.
The One Rule for Your First Job
Start with a job that reads and prepares, not one that sends or buys. The official safety guide recommends starting with read-only tasks and draft outputs, and keeping sending, publishing, purchasing, and deleting behind your approval.[2]
In plain English: let your first Bot make you a summary, a list, or a draft. You read it, and nothing goes out until you say so.
10 Beginner-Friendly Jobs
These come from two categories on the official page, General and Life & Leverage.[1] The short descriptions are our plain-English summaries of the official ones. The order is our own suggestion, from easiest to "save for later."
| Job | What it does | When you approve |
|---|---|---|
| Daily Briefing Writer General | Sends you a short daily brief of only the stories that matter to you. | Nothing is sent for you. You just read the brief. |
| Status Report Writer General | Pulls open to-dos from docs, meetings, and Slack into one list and a morning digest. | Nothing is sent for you. You read the list. |
| Executive Assistant General | Gives you a morning briefing and a catch-up summary when you join a new conversation. | Nothing is sent for you. You read the summary. |
| Chief of Staff General | Scans Slack, email, calendar, and meeting notes and tells you what's new and what to do, with a source for each item. | Nothing is sent for you. You decide what to act on. |
| Inbox Manager General | Sorts your email, points out urgent threads, and drafts replies. | The official page says every send stays behind your approval. |
| Subscription Cleaner Life & Leverage | Gathers receipt and newsletter emails, suggests what to cancel, and unsubscribes from the ones you approve. | You approve each unsubscribe. |
| Travel Coordinator Life & Leverage | Compares flights and hotels to your rules and confirms with you before booking. | It confirms with you before booking. |
| Presentation Designer General | Builds slide decks from your template and gives you an editable link. | You review and edit the deck before using it. |
| Apartment Scout Life & Leverage | Filters new listings, emails to book tours, and applies for the apartments you pick. | Better for later. It sends emails and applications for you. |
| Personal Site Builder Life & Leverage | Sets up a personal website from a description and helps with domain issues. | Better for later. It's more technical and leaves you with a live site. |

How to Add Your First Job
- Open the official use-cases page and find the job you picked. Each job has an Add to Grok Bot button.[1]
- Or, in the app, choose Create your own and give your Bot a short name, one main job, and a description of how it should work.[3]
- Give it one clear first task (see below).
- Read what it gives back. If something isn't right, ask it to fix it.[3]
Try This Safe First Request
The official setup guide suggests a five-minute first task that doesn't need any logins. Attach a document and type:[3]
The official guide says a strong request covers five things:[3]
- Outcome: what should be finished?
- Sources: which apps, websites, files, or conversations matter?
- Limits: what must the Bot avoid or ask about first?
- What to hand back: what should it give you?
- Review point: when should it stop and check with you?
